Syrian FM arrives in Tehran for trilateral talks

Xinhua, August 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al Moualem arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to attend trilateral talks with the Iranian officials and Russian President Vladimir Putin's visiting special envoy Mikhail Bogdanov, Press TV reported.

On Tuesday, Bogdanov held separate talks with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on regional developments and ways to resolve the conflict in Syria politically, the report said.

Iran would continue consultations with the regional countries to find a "democratic approach" to the crisis in Syria, Amir-Abdollahian said.

The Syrian minister will also meet with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Wednesday on bilateral relations and the latest developments in Syria.

The Islamic republic has emerged as the staunchest regional ally to the Syrian government throughout the four-year-old Syrian conflict which has been aiming to overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad. Endit
