Venezuela edges China through OT in Stankovic Cup

Venezuela beat China 82-72 through overtime in Stankovic Cup here on Tuesday, sending the hosts into losing streak.

After a 67-67 tie in regular time, the Venezuelans stormed to a 12-0 run during the first three minutes in overtime, ruining Chinese side's hope.

The Venezuelans had a solid start with a 7-0 run and led by 17-13 in the first quarter.

They continued to be sharp in the second quarter, pocketing 11 points in just three minutes. The hosts were back into the game with Guo Ailun and Chen Linjian's shots behind the three-pointer line. The Venezuelans led by 33-32 in the first half.

Tao Hanlin, Zhu Yanxi and Chen came back to the court stronger, helping China lead by as many as six points. Venezuela made two three-pointers to pull level at 50 after the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw an even closer contest between the two teams, but neither side could manage a winner in the last 15.8 seconds, dragging the game into overtime.

The Venezuelans finally found the rhythm in overtime, storming to a 12-0 run to clinch the victory. Endi
