Atletico Paranense beat Palmeiras, rise to fifth

Atletico Paranaense rose to fifth in Brazil's Serie A standings on Sunday with a 1-0 away victory over eight-time champions Palmeiras.

Forward Walter broke the deadlock with a 77th-minute strike that guaranteed the visitors their ninth win of the season at Allianz Park in Sao Paulo.

The result saw Palmeiras drop to sixth, behind Atletico Paranaense on goal difference.

In Rio de Janeiro, Santos recovered from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Flamengo at the Maracana stadium.

Alan Patrick and Emerson Sheik struck early for the hosts before Ricardo Oliveira and Lucas Lima put Santos on even terms.

In other matches on Sunday, Goias held Coritiba 1-1, Figueirense beat Ponte Preta 3-1, Chapecoense held Internacional 0-0, Joinville overcame Avai 2-0 and Sport drew 0-0 with Cruzeiro. Endi
