Former Burundian Intelligence Chief Lieutenant General Adolphe Nshimirimana was killed in an ambush at Kamenge neighborhood in the capital Bujumbura, a senior adviser at the Office of the Burundian president told Xinhua.

"Lieutenant General Adolphe Nshimirimana has died in an attack," said Willy Nyamitwe, senior adviser in charge of communication at the Burundian president's office. (Burundi-Killing)

PARIS -- A piece of metal debris was found on Sunday in the northern coast of French overseas Island La Reunion where a wreckage, believed to be part of the missing Boeing 777 was washed up few days ago, according to local French media.

Gendrames took into custody the piece of metal as part of their investigation into the disappeared Flight MH370, the news channel BFMTV said, adding that nothing indicated that it was part of an aircraft. (France-MH370-Debris)

CAIRO -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Sunday that a nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers would make Egypt and the region "safer than they otherwise would be."

"We are completely grateful for Egypt's support in the Iranian nuclear deal," Kerry told a press conference in Cairo. (Egypt-Kerry-Iran)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said Sunday that the flaperon discovered on Reunion Island has been officially identified as being part of a Boeing 777 aircraft, the same type of plane of the missing flight of Malaysia Airlines MH370.

This was verified by French authorities together with aircraft manufacturer Boeing, U.S. National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB) and the Malaysian team comprising the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia Airlines, and Malaysian ICAO Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370, he added in a statement. DAMASCUS -- Syrian air raids on rebel positions in the coastal city of Latakia in northwestern Syria killed 20 militants, the state news agency SANA reported Sunday.

The Syrian air force carried out a series of airstrikes on the positions of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front in the northern countryside of Latakia, said SANA, adding that some of those killed were Turkish militants. (Syria-Airstrikes) Endi
