China issues blue alert for rainstorms

Xinhua, August 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's meteorological authority on Sunday evening issued a blue alert for rainstorms in northern regions and parts of southern regions for the next 24 hours.

Heavy rain will sweep parts of Gansu, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning and Yunnan provinces from Sunday night to Monday night, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast.

It also warned of possible thunderstorms, gales and hailstorms in these areas.

The NMC calls for precautions against potential disasters from heavy rainfalls, including mudslides, mountain torrents and urban waterlogging.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endit
