Huge cupcake mosaic to celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee

Xinhua, August 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

A commemorative cupcake mosaic comprising 29,610 cupcakes in the shape of Singapore's signature city skyline was unveiled here on Saturday.

The 133 square-meter cupcake mosaic was the fruit of a bake-off with over 500 participants and volunteers from various organizations, such as Youth Corps Singapore and Food from the Heart, to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday. The iconic mosaic was also planned to create a new Guinness World Record for the world's largest cupcake mosaic.

Launched by Betty Crocker, a leading brand of baking mixes from General Mills, the bake-off aims to spread cheer and create a celebratory mood for the city state's upcoming birthday.

Approximately 1,600 Betty Crocker cake mixes were provided for the bake-off, enabling participants to whip up delicious cupcakes with minimal wastage in less than 30 minutes, thus simplifying the process for even non-bakers to enjoy baking.

These cupcakes were shared with the public and also delivered to non-profit organizations across Singapore. Endi
