1st LD Writethru: Fire breaks out in south England after plane crashes into airport warehouse

Xinhua, August 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

A fire broke out Friday in south England's Hampshire after a light aircraft crashed into a car auction warehouse in a local airport shortly after take-off, British Sky News reported Friday quoting police sources.

"We were called at 3.09 pm to Blackbushe [Airport] to reports of an air emergency. Road closures are in place and ambulance and fire crews are also in attendance," Hampshire Police said in a statement.

"We're dealing with an air emergency incident at Blackbushe Airport. Please avoid the area if you can," Hampshire Police tweeted.

The Hazardous Area Response Team of South East Coast Ambulance Service tweeted that initial reports suggested there might be four casualties.

The accident was believed to have happened at the auction site at Blackbushe airport, a general aviation airport in the northeast corner of Hampshire. Endit
