Tokyo stocks rise 1.08 pct on upbeat Fed outlook, firm domestic earnings

Tokyo stocks rose 1.08 percent amid upbeat Federal Reserve's outlook on the U.S. economic and firm April-June earnings posted by many listed Japanese companies.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 219.92 points, from Wednesday at 20,522.83. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 13.27 points, or 0.81 percent, to 1,647.21.

Gainers were led by steel products, securities and rubber products.

The turnover was 3,178.6 billion yen (about 25.60 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
