Five local officials under graft probe

Five officials are under investigation on suspicion of corruption, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said on Thursday.

The Tianjin municipal procuratorate has decided to investigate separate cases involving Peng Bo, deputy director of Binhai New Area Planning & Land Resources Administration, and Shi Li of the administrative committee of Binhai New Area Harbor Economic Area.

Peng is suspected of taking bribes and Shi of abusing power and taking bribes. Both have been placed under "coercive measures," which include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.

The Shanxi provincial procuratorate has approved the arrest of Ren Xiaotong, deputy executive manager of Shanxi International Energy Group, and Li Anqing, official with the administrative committee of the high-tech development area of Changzhi city.

Ren is suspected of taking bribes and Li of abusing power and taking bribes.

The procuratorate of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has approved the arrest of Xia Xiyun, a former Yinchuan city official, on suspicion of taking bribes. Endi
