Heat wave hits Qinghai plateau

The heat wave baking China has even hit the high-altitude northwestern province of Qinghai, known for its cool climate.

The provincial meteorological bureau has issued a heat alert after 11 monitoring stations recorded temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.

The bureau said temperatures will drop with a round of rainfall from Friday.

Qinghai has an average altitude of about 2,200 meters. Endi
