Heads of intelligence agencies from Central African nations are meeting in Gabon's capital Libreville on Tuesday to discuss anti-terrorism, an official source said.

The three-day meeting organized by the Economic Community of Central African States and the Gabonese government, aims to define the "best strategy" for fighting organized crime and terrorism in Central Africa, a region that remains exposed to security threats, including those imposed by Nigerian militant group Boko Haram.

"The intelligence chiefs will come up with a common strategy and will set up a a regional institutional platform for close collaboration and cooperation in the fight against terrorism," the source said.

Two of the ten ECCAS member states, Chad and Cameroon, have been victims of Boko Haram attacks. Enditem
