Amphetamine worth over 111-mln-USD seized in Yangon

Amphetamine tablets worth 111.25 million U.S. dollars have been seized in Mingalardon township of Myanmar's Yangon, Myanmar's Ministry of Information said on Tuesday.

A total of 26.7 million amphetamine tablets were seized when a police task force patrolled the township on Monday, according to the ministry.

"We are investigating the suspects with the drug case. We have never seized such amount of drugs before," an official of Myanmar Police Force told Xinhua via telephone.

Last month, 244.65-million-U.S.dollar worth of narcotic including opium, heroin, marijuana and stimulant tablets were burnt in three major cities of Yangon, Mandalay and Taunggyi to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Endi
