Moroccan, French police dismantle int'l drug trafficking network

Xinhua, July 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Moroccan and French police forces broke up on Sunday an international drug trafficking network, Morocco's interior ministry said in a statement.

The statement said a joint security operation led to the arrest of three network members, two Frenchmen and an Algerian, near Marseilles, in the south of France, adding that the task force also captured two vehicles and seized around five tons and 790 kg of hashish.

Moroccan and French police services have been monitoring the network's activities as well as their trafficking routes before the operation, added the statement.

The investigation is currently underway nationally to apprehend other involved suspects and determine their possible ties to the network in Morocco, noted the statement.

The statement said this joint operation is part of Morocco's security efforts to curb cross-border organized crime, mainly concerning international drug and psychotropics trafficking. Endit
