Swiss cantonal police on Monday said the 40th edition of the world-famous Paleo music festival in Switzerland saw fewer robberies this year, though the number of arrests rose.
During the week-long festival that ended Sunday, over 170 arrests were carried out compared to 133 in 2014.
Authorities revealed that the 2015 edition saw an increase in the consumption of illegal substances, especially of cannabis and synthetic drugs such as amphetamines and ecstasy.
Local law enforcement indicated that close to 50 percent of those apprehended were minors in possession of illegal drugs and that some were conducting small-scale trafficking.
Though the number of arrests increased this year, police indicated that there was a decrease of reported theft with only 19 cases of robbery compared to 30 in 2014 and 100 a year prior.
A total of 3,256 patients were treated for mostly benign causes over the seven-day period, substantially more than 2,361 cases in 2014. Endit
