At least four terrorists attacked a bus station and a police station in the northwest Indian state of Punjab Monday morning, said local media.

At least seven civilians and two policemen were injured in the attack and four terrorists were holed up in gunfight with police, said TV channel CNN-IBN.

The terrorists fired indiscriminately in Punjab's Dinanagar town in the frontier district of Gurdaspur, said Indo-Asian News Service.

The terrorists fired at people near the Dinanagar bus stand and then attacked the Dinanagar police station at the town 10 km from the Pakistan border and also close to the Kashmiri line-of-control.

Reports quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the terrorists were in army fatigues and carrying automatic weapons.

Police reinforcements rushed to the spot and a counter- offensive by security forces was going on, according to the reports. Endi
