Turkey scrambled several F-16 fighter jets on Sunday evening to hit Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) targets in northern Iraq, local Dogan News Agency reported.

The jets took off at around 20:30 local time (18:30 GMT) from the Diyarbakir air base in southeastern Turkey and the sound of bombing was heard in Hakkari province located at Turkey and Iraq border. (Turkey-Airstrike)

STOCKHOLM -- A grenade explosion rocked Malmo in the early hours on Sunday as violence escalated in the southern Swedish city.

Locals reported an explosion in a parking lot to the police, who found ten damaged cars and suspected a hand grenade had been detonated near a pick-up truck, news agency TT reported. (Sweden-Explosion)

ABUJA -- The death toll of Sunday's blast at a local market in Damaturu city of Nigeria's northeastern Yobe State has risen to 19, a state official said while confirming many others injured in the attack.

Abdullahi Bego, spokesman of the Yobe State government, told Xinhua the casualty figures rose after emergency workers had rounded off their operation at the crowded local market after a female suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device. (Nigeria-Blast)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army is dvancing against the Islamic State (IS) group in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, capturing parts of western mountains in the city, local media said Sunday.
