1st LD: Passenger vessel evacuated after running aground in Aegean Sea, no injuries

A passenger vessel with a total of 253 persons on board was safely evacuated on Sunday after running aground off Tinos island in the Aegean Sea, the Greek Coast Guard announced. No injuries have been reported.

The Flying Cat 4 with 239 passengers and 14 crew members which had departed from Rafina port with final destination Santorini island, run aground just outside the island's port due to fog. No severe damage was caused.

Fishing boats and speedboats participated in the evacuation operation which ended with no injuries.

A tug boat was on the way, local officials said, and travelers were to continue their trip with other vessels. Endit
