Bahrain recalls ambassador from Iran at row over hostile statements

Xinhua, July 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bahrain on Saturday recalled its diplomat from Iran following increasing tensions between the two countries following statements made by officials in Tehran aimed to promote unrest.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry called on Iran to cease all such provocative acts and choose instead to contribute positively and constructively to all efforts that strengthen regional security and stability, including confronting all forms of terrorism and violent extremism.

Accordingly, the Foreign Ministry has recalled Bahrain's Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran for discussions.

Bahrain also expresses hope that relations can improve between the two countries, which should be based on the principles of good neighbourliness, mutual respect, and non-interference in internal affairs," announced the ministry. Endit
