At least eight people including a local chief have been killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants on a village in Nigeria's restive northeastern Borno state, an army source said on Friday.

Suspected Boko Haram militants raided Pompomari area, some 12 kilometers away from the town of Biu and about 187 kilometers south of the state's capital Maiduguri, the source told Xinhua by phone. (Nigeria-Boko Haram)

NAIROBI -- U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kenya on Friday evening to begin a three-day visit to Kenya amid tight security mounted by both local and American security agencies.

ROME -- Seven people were killed and around 10 injured, four of which seriously, in a blast which occurred at a fireworks factory in southern Italy, local media reported on Friday.

The explosion hit the Bruscella Italian Group, near the city of Bari, which produces fireworks for weddings, birthdays and various celebrations and is specialized in organizing fireworks with pyromusical displays, according to the company's website. (Rome-Blast-Death)

ANKARA -- Turkey has agreed to open its air bases, including the key Incirlik Airbase in southern Turkey, for the use of coalition forces fighting against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria and Iraq, said an official statement on Friday.

The Turkish government has given permission for the anti-IS coalition forces, including the United States and other regional countries, to deploy manned and unmanned aircrafts in Turkey's military airbases, a written foreign ministry statement said. (Turkey-IS-Air bases) Endi
