Uganda' s U-23 prepare for Olympic qualifier tie against Egypt

Xinhua, July 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Uganda' s U-23 national (Kobs) have resumed training ahead of the tricky return leg against Egypt in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games/2015 Africa U-23 Championship qualifiers.

"We are back to business because we have a very important game that we need to plan for well enough," head Coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic told Xinhua on Friday.

The Kobs suffered a miserable 4-0 loss in the first leg last weekend in Alexandria, but have promised to turn tables during the return leg on Aug. 1 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

"Yes, we have a very big challenge ahead of us because losing 4-0 is bad enough, but in football anything is possible. We lost to a very good side, but also made some terrible mistakes in defending during the game in Alexandria," said the Serbian born coach.

Farouk Miya, the Uganda Kobs captain said although they missed some great chances in the loss to Egypt, they will try to work harder in the return leg slated for Aug. 1 in Kampala.

Uganda ejected Rwanda on a 4-1 goal aggregate to qualify for the final phase of the qualifiers. In case Egypt eliminate Uganda they will qualify for the 2015 CAF U-23 Championship to take place in Senegal in December. The best three teams at the African event will automatically qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
