Cambodian PM encourages China company to continue investing in Cambodia

Xinhua, July 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Friday encouraged the China Road and Bridge Corporation to continue investing in Cambodia in order to help the country develop infrastructures.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Wen Gang, chairman of the China Road and Bridge Corporation, at the Peace Palace in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.

"The prime minister encouraged and urged him to continue investing in the development of infrastructures, especially in the form of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer)," said Kao Kim Hourn, minister attached to Prime Minister Hun Sen, told reporters.

For his part, Wen said that his company has nearly completed the construction of the Second Chroy Changvar Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge in Phnom Penh and is planning to build other roads and bridges in Cambodia.

He said the company was pleased to contribute to the development of infrastructures in Cambodia.

Wen underscored the China-proposed Belt and Road initiative, saying that the Silk Road Fund and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which have been initiated to support the Belt and Road project, would definitely benefit Cambodia in infrastructure development. Endi
