Elevator snog official sacked

Xinhua, July 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

An official in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has been removed from his post after CCTV footage of him making out with a woman in an elevator went viral on the Internet earlier this month.

Meng Yinjun, former head of the Work Safety Bureau of Qingjian County, has also been stripped of his rights as a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), although he was allowed to remain in the CPC for two years of observation, according to the city commission for discipline inspection of Yulin, which administers Qingjian.

Investigators found that Meng had abused public funds and accepted bribes in addition to having committed adultery. He also used his position to demand money from companies under his supervision, according to the investigation

Officials with the commission said Meng's behavior had a "serious and bad influence" on society. Endi
