Iran's Rouhani says diplomacy can solve complicated global issues

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Thursday that the recent nuclear deal proves that diplomacy and dialogue are the only means of solving complicated world issues.
"The message from Iran's nuclear deal is to end violence, drop threats and sanctions, and solve complicated issues at the negotiations table," Rouhani was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.
He praised Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif for his "craftsmanship, experience and courage" in the nuclear talks with world powers, saying that he is one of few Iranian diplomats who could appropriately deal with the complicated issues.
Zarif managed to change Iran's image, under the recent UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution, from "posing a threat to global peace and security" to a country which global powers could cooperate with on peaceful nuclear activities, Rouhani said.
Recognition of Iran's nuclear rights in addition to the removal of "oppressive and wanton" sanctions imposed upon Iran were added achievements by Iran in the nuclear talks, he said.
The UNSC Monday unanimously adopted the resolution as the first crucial step towards implementing the historic agreement reached in Vienna last week between Iran and the P5+1 group, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany.
The agreement will reorient Iran onto the path of sanctions relief, with stricter limits on its nuclear program. Endit
