Man arrested for shooting couple dead

Xinhua, July 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

A man has been arrested in east China's Shandong Province on suspicion of shooting a couple dead.

The suspect, surnamed Niu, killed and robbed the couple in a garden in Linyi City in the early hours of July 5, local police said. Niu was arrested in his hometown of Anyang in neighboring Henan Province.

The 46-year-old arrived in Linyi following a quarrel with his wife. He said he had no personal grudge against the couple and that he gunned them down only to get money to go home, according to police.

Gun violence is unusual in China as private gun ownership is tightly restricted.

In June, Liu Shuangrui shot dead four people, including two police officers, and injured five others in north China's Hebei Province. Endi
