India planning mission to Venus: media

Xinhua, July 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

After its successful maiden mission to Mars, India is planning a mission to Venus, local media reported.

The state-owned Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will roll out a project to chalk out the modalities for a mission to Venus, its chief Kiran Kumar was quoted by the media as saying.

"Such explorations are difficult and scientific modalities need to be studied before embarking on the project," he said.

Venus is an inner planet in the Solar System and often said to be Earth's sister planet though its composition is totally different.

India had in September last year successful entered its Mars Orbiter Mission to the Red Planet in its maiden attempt.

The second Mars mission may take off between 2018 and 2020. Endi
