Chinese soldiers set out for Army Games in Russia

Xinhua, July 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

A delegation of Chinese soldiers and officers on Wednesday set out for the International Army Games in Russia.

Twelve teams from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) will compete in events across 10 Russian provinces from August 1 to 15. Russia has organized the games since 2013 to promote military exchanges and boost multilateral trust.

At the invitation of the Russian Defense Ministry, the 12 PLA squads will compete with their foreign peers from Asia, Europe, Africa and America in 12 different disciplines, which will test reconnaissance, artillery, aviation, airborne and other military skills.

Unlike other countries, which will use weaponry provided by Russia, Chinese teams will be armed entirely with Chinese equipment.

The competition will challenge the Chinese teams in terms of time management, and equipment and arms skills, according to Liu Ying, leader of the Chinese delegation. Endi
