Albania to strengthen tax audits in tourist hotspots

Xinhua, July 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian general tax police announced on Tuesday that they would strengthen monitoring of irregularities among hotels, restaurants and bars in the coastal area, where tourist services are lucrative during summer time.

Albanian deputy director of the tax office Flobens Dilaveri said terrain inspectors will monitor not only irregular businesses, but also tax office administration workers for possible power abuse. He called on clients to demand bills for every purchase at any site.

Rising number tourists during summer bring increased demand for goods and services and increased sales, while some businesses tend to avoid issuing receipts during the tourist season.

Fines will be imposed for businesses that have no equipment on hand for printing receipts. In any case in which a business continues to operate without a receipt printer on hand, after receiving their first fine, their goods for sale will be confiscated. Fine will also be imposed for failure to issue a receipt upon a customer purchase. Endit
