Atletico sign Montenegran defender Savic

Xinhua, July 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Atletico Madrid have signed Montenegran international defender Stefan Savic from Italian side Fiorentina.

Savic arrives in Madrid to replace Joao Miranda, who left earlier in the summer to join Inter Milan over the summer. He has cost around 12 million euros (13.5 million US dollars), with Spain international midfielder, Mario Suarez moving to Florentina as part of the deal.

Savic, who has also played for Partizan Belgrade and had a short spell at Manchester City, undergoes his medical test in Madrid on Monday, before joining up with the Atletico squad, who are carrying out pre-season preparations in north of the Spanish capital.

The 24-year-old has made 32 appearances for his country and becomes Atletico's fourth major signing of the summer.

Atletico had previously focused on strengthening the club's attack with Luciano Vietto, Jackson Martinez and Yannick Carrasco, who have joined the Spanish La Liga side from Villarreal, Porto and Monaco respectively. Endi
