Tokyo stocks end mixed in morning on profit-taking

Tokyo stocks ended mixed in the morning session of Friday on profit-taking after rapid gains earlier this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 30.96 points, or 0.15 percent, from Thursday to 20,631.08. In contrast, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.61 point, or 0.04 percent, at 1,660.22.

Major gainers included insurance and shipping, while mining and nonferrous metals led decliners. Endi
