Uganda's KCCA FC upbeat ahead of regional Cecafa Club Championship

Uganda's KCCA FC on Thursday left for Tanzania with high hopes of coming back with the trophy of the Council for East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) Club Championship.

KCCA FC Head Coach Mike Mutebi told Xinhua before departure that he has put up a strong team for the Club Championship scheduled for July 18-Aug. 2 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

"We are not just going to participate, but to win the trophy," he said.

KCCA FC who are under new coaches Mutebi and assistant Sam Ssimbwa have been placed in Group C alongside Azam FC (Tanzania), Adama City (Ethiopia) and Malakia FC (South Sudan).

Facing Azam FC of Tanzania will present KCCA FC a chance to face their former coach George Nsimbe who is now an assistant with Azam FC and winger Brian Majwega who features for the Uganda Cranes.

Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans have been drawn in Pool A alongside Kenya's Gor Mahia, Khartoum (Sudan), KMKM (Zanzibar) and Somalia's Telecom. Another team from Sudan, Al Shandy, APR (Rwanda), LLB (Burundi) and Somalia's Elman will be placed in Group B.

Two teams from each of these three groups, alongside the two best losers will proceed to the quarter-finals of the competition. Endi
