Shanghai SIPG climbes to top of Chinese Super League

Xinhua, July 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan created a penalty and scored a winning goal in his first appearance in the Chinese Super League on Thursday.

Gyan's performance helped Shanghai SIPG climb to the top of the league table with 41 points.

The visiting side Tianjin Teda took a lead in the 36th minute when Hernan Barcos's flip shot found its way into the net as Shanghai SIPG keeper found no way to stop it.

Ghana striker Gyan created a penalty when the Tianjin Teda keeper Du Jiafei made a dive for the ball but fell on Gyan's ankle.

Four Shanghai players wanted to kick the penalty and Davi stood out. Davi's spooned penalty kick equalized in the 57 minute.

Five minutes later, Gyan struck the winning goal with his daring diving header. [ In the other game today, Guizhou Renhe tied Guangzhou R&F 2-2.

The next round will start in two days. Endi
