Tokyo shares open higher on yen's retreat

Tokyo shares opened higher on Thursday on the yen's retreat that boosted buying of export- oriented issues.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 102.66 points, or 0.50 percent, from Wednesday to 20,565.99.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.41 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,653. 82. Endi
