Iceland's fish catch up 29.1 pct year-on-year in June

Iceland saw an increase of fish caught in June 2015, a 29.1-percent year-on-year growth, according to figures issued Wednesday by Statistics Iceland.

The total fish caught in June amounted to 72,700 tonnes, including 35,000 tonnes of demersal catch and 33,600 tonnes of pelagic catch, and some shellfish, figures showed.

The total volume in June this year increased by 16,400 tonnes of fish compared with that of June last year.

The total fish caught in the period between July 2014 and June 2015 was 1.33 million tonnes, an increase of 21.6 percent compared with 1.09 million tonnes of fish caught in the previous yearly period. Endit
