Myanmar's government forces have clashed with a small remnant armed group, the Klohtoobaw Karen Organization (KKO), during a search operation in Kawkareik, southeastern Kayin state over the last two days, an official report said Wednesday.

The government forces, along with its border guard force, came under fierce attack by heavy weapon fired from the KKO, in the urban ward of Kawkareik when they were patrolling after reopening two roads occupied by the ethnic group. (Myanmar-Clash)

- - - - SYDNEY -- Global manufacturer Mitsubishi has been accused of misleading Australian consumers after a Brisbane woman had her warranty claim rejected because of a gecko.

Felicity Sawford was told the warranty to her Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning did not cover damage caused vermin after technicians claimed a gecko had short-circuited the power-board in the external unit.(Australia-Mitsubishi)

TOKYO -- A series of controversial security-related bills proposed by Japan's ruling bloc were rammed through a special committee of Japanese parliament's lower house Wednesday noon, paving the way for a vote for the bills at the full chamber later.

SEOUL -- Job creation in South Korea slowed down last month on the aftermath of the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), a government report showed Wednesday.
