Tokyo shares open higher on buoyant overseas performances

Tokyo shares opened higher on Wednesday following overnight gains in U.S. and European markets.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 83.65 points, or 0.41 percent, from Tuesday to 20,468.98.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.70 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1,646. 41. Endi
