Nigeria to pick 13 boxers for AAG in Congo Brazzaville

Xinhua, July 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria would select 13 of the 30 boxers in camp ahead of the 11th All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19, an official said on Tuesday.

Adura Olalehin, the assistant coach of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), said the selected boxers would be 10 males and three females.

He said the unselected boxers would remain in camp for the World Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The coach lauded the federation officials for the construction and furnishing of the boxers' hostel close to the gym.

He said training facilities were also provided for training of boxers at the gym.

Olalehin said that with facilities at the gym and building of the hostel, Nigeria should expect a lot of medals at the Games.

According to him, the welfare of boxers was being taken care of by the National Sports Commission.

He said the NSC provided the boxers and officials with food and other needs to make them comfortable in camp. Endi
