The United States supports Serbia in its efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis, said Victoria Nuland, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs here on Tuesday.
Nuland made the comments when visiting Serbia, the country that this year holds chairmanship over the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), where she was scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
According to the press release, after her meeting with Dacic, Nuland said the OSCE with Serbia at its helm was "going through a renaissance", and that it had the full support of the United States to implement the Minsk agreement and bring peace to Ukraine.
Dacic said that as OSCE chairperson, he was fully dedicated to finding a solution that was acceptable to all sides.
"We try to secure the implementation of the ceasefire in the field, as well as progress in political negotiations with the support of our international partners," Dacic reportedly said.
He added that Serbia's priorities were to gradually normalize the situation in Ukraine through a dialogue mediated by the OSCE.
Nuland's visit to the region also included meetings with leaders of Croatia, Macedonia, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Endit
