Spanish treasury places 5.77 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills valued at 5.77 billion euros (6.37 billion U.S. dollars) on the market, paying lower interest rates than in previous auctions and registering a demand of more than 11 billion euros.

A total of 811.21 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of 0.021 percent, falling from the previous 0.126 percent.

The placement also included 4.960 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills, which fetched an average interest rate of 0.110 percent, falling from the previous 0.248 percent.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 87.5 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market, which represented 61.6 percent of the country's financial needs for the year. (1 euro = 1.10 U.S. dollars) Enditem
