China to use own equipment in Army Games

Xinhua, July 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

China will send a team armed entirely with Chinese military equipment to next month's International Army Games in Russia, said the People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday.

At the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defence, 12 PLA squads from ground, naval and air forces will compete in the 12 different disciplines of the event, which will test reconnaissance, artillery, aviation, airborne and other military skills across 10 Russian provinces from August 1 to 15, according to the military training department of the PLA's General Staff Headquarters.

A dozen countries from Europe, Asia and the Americas have confirmed they will participate in the contest. However, they are asked to use only weaponry provided by Russia.

The Chinese military equipment is due to be delivered to the sites in Russia by rail before July 21, covering routes as long as 7,500 km.

The Chinese military aims to increase exchanges and deepen mutual trust among participants through competing in military training, according to a PLA statement. Endi
