Tokyo stocks soar 1.47 pct as Greek deal spurs sentiment

Tokyo stocks soared 1.47 percent on Tuesday after Greece and the rest of the eurozone reached a provisional deal on the cash-strapped country's continued financial bailout Monday.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 295.56 points, from Monday at 20,385.33. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 25.20 points, or 1.56 percent, higher at 1,638.71.

Gainers were led by securities, nonferrous metals and rubber products issues.

The turnover was 2,659.07 billion yen (about 21.54 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
