Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong on Tuesday praised China for having provided a great amount of aid and encouraged Chinese investors to Cambodia, saying that the aid and investment were vital for the Southeast Asian nation to develop economy and society as well as to reduce poverty.

"The Chinese government has provided a great amount of grants, non-interest loans, and concessional loans to Cambodia for socio- economic development, while many Chinese enterprises have invested in Cambodia, which have greatly contributed to economic development and poverty reduction."

The foreign minister made the remarks while receiving a donation of four brand new vehicles, three pick-up trucks and one minibus, and 45 Ascend P7 Huawei mobile phones from the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia.

Hor Namhong, who is also a deputy prime minister, said Cambodia and China are close friends, and in recent years, the leaders of the two countries had frequently exchanged visits to further enhance long-standing relations and fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo said China and Cambodia are good friends and always trust and support each other.

"China is ready to work hand in hand with Cambodia to further enhance communications and cooperation between our two countries," she said. Endi
