Rocket attack kills 5 in Libya's Benghazi

Xinhua, July 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

As many as five civilians were killed by a random rocket attack in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, a medical source told Xinhua on Monday.

The source with Al-Jalaa hospital in the city confirmed the number of deaths, all elderly men, were killed Sunday evening when a rocket hit the busy Beirut Street in central Benghazi.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Benghazi, Libya's second largest city, witnesses continued clashes and similar attacks during crossfire between the army and extremist groups.

Libya, an oil-rich North African country, has fallen into a state of continuous violence since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011.

The country has been suffering a security vacuum with many armed groups fighting for dominance. Endit
