De las Salas wins Colombia's first gold at Pan-Am Games

Weightlifter Habib de las Salas on Saturday won the first gold medal for Colombia and set a record in the men's 56kg category at Toronto 2015 Pan-American Games.

De Las Salas, 28, won the title by lifting a total of 269 kg, including 117 in snatch and 152 in clean and jerk.

Colombian Carlos Andres Berna, 25, grabbed the silver medal with a total of 265 kg, including 116 in snitch and 146 in clean and jerk.

Dominican Luis Garcia, 20, had the bronze medal by lifting a total of 256 kg, including 115 in snitch and 141 in clean and jerk.

In Guadalajara 2011, gold medal in this category went to Cuban Sergio Alvarez, who had also won in Rio de Janeiro 2007. Endi
