Vietnam's national U16 will compete at the Southeast Asian Championship in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, later this month, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Friday.

Coach Dinh The Nam has brought together 31 players, who are now in intensive training in Hanoi. "In the next three weeks, they will exercise to improve their physique and skills before we name a final list of 25 players," he said.

In Cambodia, Vietnam will play Malaysia, Laos, Timor Leste, Brunei and Thailand in Group A. Group B will include Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The teams will compete in a round robin format in the group stage, with the two best ones advancing to the semi-finals.

The tournament will begin on July 25, with the final scheduled on August 8. Endi
