China's top political advisor meets Zimbabwean VP

Xinhua, July 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Wednesday met with visiting Zimbabwean Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, hailed China and Zimbabwe as "good partners, friends and brothers".

Yu reviewed Chinese President Xi Jinping's meetings with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe in recent years, saying the meetings have charted the direction of China-Zimbabwe ties.

As this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic relations, China expects to work closely with Zimbabwe to make bilateral relations a paradigm of equality, mutual trust, mutual support, cooperation, shared growth and common prosperity.

The Communist Party of China would like to work with the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union--Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) to step up high-level exchanges and strategic communication and boost the growth of bilateral relations.

This was the first overseas trip by Mnangagwa, also ZANU-PF vice president, since he assumed office last December.

Mnangagwa underscored Zimbabwe's commitment to increase trade and economic cooperation with China.

Mnangagwa will conclude his China tour on Friday. Endit
