Xinhua, July 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Vietnamese Transport Ministry has estimated the Mekong Delta would need around 87 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 4 billion U.S. dollars) in the 2016-2020 period to invest in important infrastructure projects, local newspaper Saigon Time Daily reported Thursday.

The ministry said in its recent report that 64 trillion Vietnamese dong of the total funding would go to road projects, 6. 5 trillion Vietnamese dong to waterway developments and 1.5 trillion Vietnamese dong to aviation facilities.

Hefty funding is being sought for construction of My Thuan-Can Tho expressway, Dai Ngai bridge linking Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces, the second phase of a coastal road in the delta's southern part as well as upgrade and widening of national highways. Endi
