Bulgaria decides to become member of NATO naval logistics support partnership

Xinhua, July 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Bulgarian government on Wednesday decided the country should become a member of NATO's naval logistics support partnership (NLSP) instead of being a "member in trial period," officials said.

The new status would allow Bulgaria to participate in decision-making in NLSP, and pay less for logistics when its navy participates in NATO operations, missions and exercises, the government said in a press release.

NLSP was established in 2010 and comprises of 12 member NATO navies and several trial navies. Its main mission is to meet the needs of the NLSP member states in terms of military effectiveness by providing contracted solutions for their navies. This includes providing fuel and services in nearly 500 foreign ports worldwide, according to the NLSP website. Endit
