Uganda to face Tunisia ahead of 2016 Olympic qualifier

Uganda is to face Tunisia in a buildup game ahead of the 2016 Olympic qualifier and 2015 U-23 Champions qualifier later this month.

Decolas Kiiza, Head of Finance at Uganda's FA told Xinhua on Wednesday that they have received an invitation from Tunisia Football Federation and are now making arrangements to travel to Tunis for the game slated for July 15.

"We are planning to send the team to Tunisia on Friday so that they can have some days of camping in Tunisia before the match and later connect to Alexandria where they will face Egypt," said Kiiza.

The Kobs, Uganda's U-23 team ejected Rwanda to qualify for the next phase where they will face Egypt on July 18 at the Borg Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic said the build-up will be important because Tunisia play similar type of football like Egypt.

Sredojevic said they will make sure they utilize the few days of camping in Tunisia before heading to Alexandria.

Striker Junior Yunus Ssentamu who plies his trade for Tunisia's CS Sfaxien together with defender Richard Juuko Kasagga and goalkeeper Salim Magoola who features for El Merreikh in Sudan will lead the Uganda Kobs team.

In-case Uganda eliminate Egypt they will qualify for the 2015 CAF U-23 Championship to take place in Senegal in December. The three best teams at the African event will automatically qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Uganda's U-23 squad includes James Alitho, Mathias Kigonya, Deus Bukenya, Brian Ochwo, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Richard Juuko Kasagga, Shafiq Bakaki, Derrick Tekkwo, Keziron Kizito, Martin Kiiza, Abel Eturude, Farouk Miya, John Ssemazzi, Fahad Muhamed Hassan, Taddeo Lwanga, Erisa Ssekisambu, Junior Yunus Ssentamu and Umaru Kasumba.
