At least 20 people have been killed by a bomb explosion which rocked Zaria city in Nigeria's northwestern state of Kaduna on Tuesday, provincial governor Nasir El-Rufai said.
The explosion occurred in Sabon Gari area of Zaria city, at a center opened for bio-metric screening of the state civil servants, the governor said. (Nigeria-Bomb)

ATHENS -- A vessel with dozens of undocumented migrants on board sank in the Aegean Sea near the islands of Chios, Farmakonissi and Agathonissi on Tuesday and a rescue operation was underway, Greek Coast Guard officials said.
According to early information by survivors about 33 persons were on board. A total of 16 passengers have been rescued by Greek and Turkish forces so far, according to the latest. (Greece-Ship rescue)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army has killed more than 50 rebels in the countryside of the coastal city of Latakia in northern Syria, the official Syrian TV said Tuesday.

KABUL -- Attack on a security post in Kabul on Tuesday claimed four lives including three attackers, police said.
"A terrorist equipped with suicide vest blew himself up next to an office of National Directorate for Security (NDS) killing himself and a guard, enabling two others to enter the compound but those inside returned fire and killing both within minutes," Kabul Police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters at the site of the incident.
