Portugal issues health warning due to high temperatures

Portugal issued a health warning on Monday to advise residents to take cautions as ultraviolet radiation soared across the country.

Temperatures in Portuguese capital Lisbon this Monday will vary between 16C and 31C, while in the northern city of Porto temperatures will hit between 14C and 23C. The southern city of Evora will swelter in between 14C and 39C heat, according to the authorities.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) warned residents in regions with high levels of ultraviolet radiation to "use sun glasses with UV filter, hat, t-shirt, umbrella, sunscreen" and to "avoid exposure of children to the sun." Endit
